C.C.D. PROGRAM GUIDELINES
Students are to attend all classes and are to report to the classroom
on time. If an absence is unavoidable, parents are asked to call the
C.C.D. Office to report the absence and are to follow the class syllabus
we provide and teach the lesson the child will have missed. Students
must complete the "chapter review" for each chapter done at home to
receive credit for the week.
To receive the Sacraments of Reconciliation, Eucharist or Confirmation,
a child must faithfully attend all C.C.D. classes and our Sacramental
Preparation programs. Please refer to the schedules on this web site for
grades 2, 6, 7, 8, and 9. (Diocesan policy #122, "To be admitted to the
sacraments, children must have sufficient knowledge...to understand the
Mystery of Christ...so they can receive the sacraments with faith and
devotion.)
Parents are not to take children from class before dismissal time. Any
request for each dismissal must be made through the program manager.
Parents are asked to wait for their children in the hallway until the
dismissal bell.
Disruptive behavior will not be tolerated. Any student sent to the
office because of poor behavior will be asked to call his/her parents to
come and pick him/her up. Parents will then need to arrange a meeting
with the teacher, program manager, and the student before the student
will be admitted back into the classroom.
If it is necessary to cancel classes due to inclement weather,
cancellation notices will be broadcast on KDKA radio (1020AM), KDKA-TV
and WTAE-TV. The cancellation will also be posted on the web site home
page at www.stcatherineofsweden.org. Decisions
regarding cancellation are not finalized until 1:00 p.m. Please do not
call the C.C.D. Office before 1:00 p.m. Parental judgment concerning
road conditions in your neighborhood should be a deciding factor in all
cases.
The C.C.D. Office has a Lost and Found department. Items will be held
for thirty days. There is a $15.00 charge to replace a lost C.C.D.
textbook.
