Religious Education
Religious Education helps children acquire and deepen Christian faith
and identity through instruction and formation of conscience. Classes
are offered at various times to meet the needs of our growing Parish.
Children in grades K-8 must register each year.
Elementary School Programs
Weekly CCD Classes
Available to children in grades K through five, the weekly CCD program
is held on the St. Catherine of Sweden Campus. Sunday morning classes
are offered and both afternoon and evening sessions are available during
the week. Classes are ninety minutes and class size is limited to
fourteen students.
Family Program
For children in grades one through five, the Family Program combines
classroom instruction, at home lessons and “family night” activities.
The children attend fifteen classroom sessions, parents teach three
lessons at home and three ‘family night’ programs are scheduled
throughout the year. Class size is limited to fourteen students;
classes are ninety minutes and are held on the St. Catherine of Sweden
Campus.
Home Schooling Program
This alternative program is available for parents / guardians who prefer
to teach their children at home.*
Parents will be
provided with textbooks, a program syllabus and chapter review tests for
each child enrolled in the program. Completed test are submitted to the
Religious Education Office on a scheduled basis.”
* Home schooling is not an option for
children in second grade preparing for the sacraments of First
Reconciliation and First Eucharist.
Middle School Programs
Weekly CCD Classes
Available to children in grades six through eight, the weekly CCD
program is held on the St. Catherine of Sweden Campus.
Middle school classes
are offered Sunday MORNING, Monday Evening and Wednesday Evening on the
St. Catherine of Sweden campus. Classes are ninety minutes
and class size is limited to fourteen students.
Home-Based Classes
For children in grades six through eight, the home-based program is a
weekly program of classes held in the home of an assigned catechist.
Students follow the same curriculum as the weekly CCD program held on
the St. Catherine of Sweden Campus. Classes are scheduled on Sunday
evening, are ninety minutes and are limited to ten students or less per
class.
Home Schooling Program
This alternative program is available for parents / guardians who prefer
to teach their children at home.*
